Aspiring Superintendent Accelerator Program Nomination Form

Program Background

The Aspiring Superintendent Accelerator is a 12-month program designed for district leaders who have completed superintendent certification and who are interested in pursuing the superintendency in the next 2-3 years.​


We are accepting leaders with a demonstrated track-record of strong performance in a cabinet-level role (i.e., Chief Academic Officer, Chief of Schools, Chief of HR, Assistant Superintendent.) ​

Job-embedded learning is a foundational element of this program. Those chosen to participate will be asked to complete a project designed to prompt superintendent-level leadership. This project will require the Aspiring Superintendent to lead a big district priority with the feedback and guidance of their nominating Sponsor Superintendent. Nominators should be prepared to both delegate and supervise the submitted candidate’s work on this project.​


Please nominate one direct report you feel would be a good fit for this program. Following a review of nominations, nominees selected to move forward will be invited to complete a paper application. Finalists from the application round will be invited to a brief interview.  Nominating superintendents of those chosen for the cohort will be asked to play a significant role as the nominee’s Sponsor. Sponsors will be asked to support their nominee’s growth and development throughout the program. This nomination form should take no more than 20 minutes to complete. Selected candidates for Cohort 3 will be notified in early November 2026 with Session 1 beginning January 5, 2027.


Accelerator Nomination and Application Timeline:

  • Nominations close August 26th at 11:59 PM.
  • Nominees who move to the next round will be invited to apply the beginning of September.
  • Finalists from the application round will be invited to an interview by the end of September.
  • Interviews will take place on Zoom from October 5-16, 2026.
  • Selected candidates for Cohort 3 will be notified by early November.
  • The program begins on January 5, 2027.
